danko day 10 part 1

04:04 on Day 10

After the theater performance I went home to get some more rest, but I couldn't sleep. There was another letter for me, and although the contents probably wouldn't cheer me up, I needed something to occupy my mind.

Letter from the Inquisitor posted:

I have had some time to think about the information revealed today and I need to consult with you. I want an exact and comprehensive survey of this Tower. You may already have some plans regarding that. Since you have discovered that it acts as a good insulator against the disease, how do you plan on developing this into a workable solution?

Even if the cathedral is on the same street as Eve's house, it was an ordeal to get there. The infection has spread quite far this day and the air was really foul.

: Bachelor! I want you to explain something very important to me. The Kains trust you quite well, don't they?

Bachelor: Why do you ask?

Aglaja: They seem to have very high hopes for you. Maria in particular, but her future seem to have something else for her. Both Victor and George has entrusted very sensitive family affairs to you...

Bachelor: So what?

Aglaja: The Kains will help us, if it is within their powers, to collect all the needed documentation for this Polyhedron.

Bachelor: What do you need all this for?

Aglaja: Are you joking? How can I work without information?! First of all, I have to collect evidence and documentation that substantiates my final argument. The Tribunal is not ones to be taken lightly.

Bachelor: And the second?

Aglaja: This damned Block has appeared to be less dim-witted than I thought. He used the fact that I am young and lack support and has started to doubt my conclusions. Of course he doesn't understand a bit of it!

Bachelor: Well, what information do you still need?

Aglaja: I need to understand what this building really is. All the documentation of it's construction, the meanings of it's shape... Everything connected to it.

Bachelor: Where would you find this? I couldn't make much sense of it even when I was inside.

Aglaja: Surely the Kains know everything about it. Perhaps they have copies of the blueprints and drawings. It was under their protection that this strange thing was built. Let them try to prove their innocence.

Bachelor: I think it's more likely that Peter Stamatin has the original prints stored somewhere. He invented this construction in the first place. I shall talk to him.

It seems like I need to walk all the way across town again today. Seeing as the town is in such a bad shape today, I decided to take a short detour to pick up a new map from Young Vlad.

: You? I didn't expect a visit from you. What do you want? Not that it matters anymore.

Bachelor: What? I'm just after a new map.

Young Vlad: Well, take your map and leave, then. The scouts are still expecting their payment, even at a time like this.

Hmm, this is really bad. I hope this will all be over soon, otherwise the town will be completely overwhelmed by the Sand Dirt.

I wonder what Young Vlad was so upset about? It's strange to talk to him when he's not plotting something or trying to trick me into doing something for him.

When I tried to take a shortcut through this part of town, I was stopped by one of the men on guard. He said there was a fire up ahead, and that it was too risky for me to go this way. Even the guards with the flame-resistance suits were standing far away. I almost imagined them being nervous, but it's hard to tell through the dark glass visor.

Eventually I found another way to Peter's studio, but something felt wrong. There was a lot of shuffling heard from the top floor.

Soldier: Identify yourself!

Bachelor: I'm Dankovskiy, authorized representative of the Inquisitor. Your commander should have let you know about me.

Soldier: What are you here for?

Bachelor: It is you who will answer the questions. What are you doing here? Under who's order?

Soldier: We are here on duty, dear fellow. Does this mean you are a friend of the criminal?

Bachelor: I'm on duty too. Please give me the full report.

Soldier: Then it will be interesting for you to know that your... friend is responsible for the cold hearted murder of four military men. Our informer has specified that the architect lives here, but we did not find anyone when we arrived. You will help us search for the guilty.

Bachelor: I fear Peter was confused with someone else... Who's ordering you about?

Soldier: What are you talking about?

Bachelor: I asked, who are you taking orders from?

Soldier: Our commander is captain Longin. The investigation is conducted by him, since the dead patrol-men were under his command. He has taken matters into his own hands. More questions?

Bachelor: You mean to tell me that general Block doesn't know about this?

Soldier: No need. We will find the guilty sooner or later. We suspect that he is hiding in the ruins of a building in the central district of town. We advice you to assist with his arrest, otherwise...

Bachelor: He will most likely try to get back here. I'll be back soon.

Summary: Peter is in trouble! We went to ask him for the blueprints for the Polyhedron, but found only soldiers at his place. He's been accused of killing several army men, and one of the captains has taken matters into his own hands and wants him found and executed. It's very unlikely that Peter have the strength or the resolve to kill someone, but who knows what all that twyrine does to a man's mind. We need to find him fast, before the soldiers does.
