danko day 12 part 2 (02:28)

02:28 on Day 12

This leaves the Inquisitor. She has enough power to keep her servants alive, I'm sure. But regardless of what happens, today is an important day. I better meet her and talk about our plans. She should be in the Cathedral, as always.

: You have come too early. The Council will be determining the destiny of this miserable town, at seven in the evening. Until then, the Cathedral is closed.

Bachelor: Let me in. I need to see the Inquisitor. We have things to talk about before the Council starts.

Executor: No, Bachelor. You will not see her before the evening comes. The Inquisitor is no longer in charge of this game. She is not the one who will execute the will of the Council.

Bachelor: What are you talking about?

Executor: Maybe you will find out today. If all those whose lives you have held in your hands during these past days are alive and present before the Council starts, you will learn more.

Bachelor: But Eve is no longer alive. I failed her...

Executor: She, apparently, does not think so. This unfortunate girl was one of your only true friends. She has helped you much, even if you do not know it and even if you do not care much about her. Her voice will he heard.

Bachelor: And the rest of my Adherents?

Executor: Their lives are still in your hands. But it all ends today. Keep them healthy until tonight and make sure you are not late for the Council yourself. You'll even get a chance to tell Aglaja Lilich what you really think of her.

Each of the three playable characters has a group of about 7-9 townspeople who they are responsible for. These are called Adherents. But just because they are your adherents doesn't mean they always agree with you. They have their own goals and visions. Eventually, it will be up to the townspeople themselves to decide the future of their town.

Each group has a name that summarizes their vision, and talking to them on the 12th day gives more insight into the details of that vision. But remember, if just one single person in a group didn't make it through, their plan will inevitably fail.

We'll take some time to check up on all the important people in town, note down their health and if they are in need of medical attention, and chat with them a bit. I'll do it group by group. Some of the people haven't even been visited by the Bachelor in his scenario, but I'll list them anyway for the sake of completion.

Resident: Victor Kain
Group: The Utopians
Status: Healthy

: You've saved my life. Thank you. I'm going to spend the time I have been given wisely.

Bachelor: Actually, what are you going to do now?

Victor: Simply said, I won't stay here for long. When everything is finished and I have made sure my daughter inherits the title of Scarlet Mistress, I will move to the Inner Chamber. My place is there. Maybe I will even meet the lingering spirit of Simon.

Bachelor: You're just going to hide? What if something happens to your house? If the cannon is even just a little bit off, your house would be reduced to splinters and rubble.

Victor: The Inner Chamber is not quite like an ordinary place. It will survive even the total destruction of the town. And the Polyhedron will be sufficient to house everyone else. And when the new town is built, we'll be a part of it.

Bachelor: New town?

Victor: That is what is needed. This old town must be left behind. A new town will be built on the other side of the river. It will be bigger, more spacious and more beautiful. Those who are hiding in the cocoon of glass that is the Polyhedron will become it's inhabitants. Everything will change for the better.

Resident: George Kain
Group: The Utopians
Status: Healthy

: You have saved my life, dear doctor. Thank you. I will put it to a worthy use in the near future.

Bachelor: Use? Tell me what you mean by that.

George: My life was already steadily coming to an end. Why should I stretch out my last days, slowly withering away and becoming a burden for my family? No, the best thing I can do now is make way for my nephew.

Bachelor: How much time is left?

George: Not much. But I do not need much. Pretty soon, my spirit will have a better shelter than this old body.

Bachelor: Your spirit? What do you think will happen to you?

George: It will pass on, eventually. But I have no regrets about that. What is the value of my spirit compared to Simon's? Mine won't stay long in that trap of mirrors. It will not be a very comfortable place for me. But Simon has a place in our new town, and he will stay and watch over it, I am sure.

Resident: Maria Kain
Group: The Utopians
Status: Healthy

: If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have lived until today. Now, if my plan succeeds I will be able to build the town. I am grateful to you, darling. I will never forget this.

Bachelor: What do you have in plan for this new town?

Maria: The Polyhedron will be the same thing for the new town that the Abattoir was for the old one. A heart, a source of vital power and the origin of its history.

Bachelor: How is this possible?

Maria: It is like a prism. The sunshine will run through it and spread out across the ground of the river bank, embracing it in holy warmth. We have calculated everything according to the old calendars.

Bachelor: What about the children living inside it already?

Maria: The traces of their games and dreams will linger in the tower. The spaces and roads inside will stretch out from the Polyhedron. Even if the children leaves the tower, the tower will not truly leave them. They will leave their current home for a better one.

Bachelor: And you think this will actually succeed?

Maria: I am not alone, and you have not seen my true power yet. You are leaving this town after today, aren't you? Remember me as I am now. Not as the coming Scarlet Mistress, who can take your life and burn you out, but as a girl whose destiny you once held in your hand.

Bachelor: Don't forget that your destiny hasn't been determined yet.

Resident: Mark Immortal
Group: The Utopians
Status: Healthy

: Thank you for saving my life, too. You have my respect... What is they all say? Ah, I am going to use my life wisely. Hah!

Bachelor: There's one thing I cannot understand. You are different than the others. What are you doing together with these people and their dreams of an utopia?

Mark: Why are you so surprised, wise doctor?

Bachelor: I thought that their ideology was based on fighting the laws of fate and their limits on a human being.

Mark: That is right. You are very clear eyed. But so what? I, who acted from behind the curtains and worked the hidden machines, so to speak... I have sworn my fealty to this utopia. I have my place in it, after all. Does that tell you nothing?

Bachelor: Too little, I would say. You sound like a double dealer, as always.

Mark: I am really glad you are leaving. You are a dangerous person. It would be difficult for me to deal with you.

Bachelor: What are you going to do about it?

Mark: Me? Don't be absurd. That's very tactless of you. I will be a servant of the Scarlet Mistress. I will be her servant, always ready to serve.

Bachelor: You devil! But I guess people like you will always be around. I'm sure that even if the town is rebuilt from the ground up you'll find yourself involved in the intrigue once again.

Resident: Young Vlad Olgimskiy
Group: The Utopians
Status: Healthy

: Thank you for saving my life.

Bachelor: To be honest, I wasn't expecting you to side with the Kains and the rest of them. Maria told me at the very beginning to keep an eye on you, but I thought that was due to rivalry between your families.

Young Vlad: Yes... I didn't really anticipate it, but everything happened so suddenly the last few days.

Bachelor: You were such a loyal son. I was sure you would follow in the footsteps of your father.

Young Vlad: I am still a loyal son! Who told you I was going to deny the values of my family? I cannot change who I am. I cannot change the lines of my father.

Bachelor: So you want to become like your father, despite all?

Young Vlad: He was a master of the bulls and the bull-men. He was a human of the old age that has forever ended. He was born in the same age that gave birth to the Order and it's values. I honor him and I love him. You saw for yourself what he gave up for my sake. But the age of the Ox has ended and there is no way to change that.

Bachelor: Then what will you do now?

Young Vlad: I will start serving Maria. I will be her hands and temper her with my practical mind. I will be her accountant and chancellor. I will estimate the price of her ideas and impulsions and I will write down her every dream. It may sound strange, but that is the place I see for myself in the future.

Bachelor: I understand.

Resident: Andrei Stamatin
Group: The Utopians
Status: Healthy

: You saved my life, my friend! It's wonderful.

Bachelor: What will you do with it now?

Andrei: At last, I understand what my role is. I am not a builder, but I have my talents when it comes to... other things. I can get into those places where one shouldn't be, if you know what I mean.

Bachelor: Don't take more risks. You're not alone in this, Andrei.

Andrei: Exactly! There isn't any Andrei now, only the Stamatin brothers. Without each other we would have no worth, but together we cost a thousand times as much as any master of the old school. Peter has no limit to his dreams, and I have no limits to my actions.

Bachelor: You're not much for rules and traditions, are you?

Andrei: That is why I will realize all of Peters inventions and let Maria bless us both with her love. Neither heaven nor hell will stop me. I will stay here, and look forward to our new future.

Bachelor: I almost envy you now, Andrei.
