A short recap of what we are supposed to do now, since it's been a while since last update.
Aglaja doesn't have any spies inside the Abattoir so when Burakh went in there to investigate something she didn't know what was going on. This seems to upset Aglaja, but if it's because of personal frustration or because she had professional plans for him we don't really know. We'll see if we can find Burakh in the Apiary or at least some clues of when he'll be back there.
After that we'll haul ourselves over to the other side of town and hand over five army rifles to the leader of the kids there, Khan. It's the only known way of getting permission to go inside the actual tower structure.
Outside Anna's house it's as bleak as always.
The army men are very good at quarantining the plague victims, but their methods are very harsh. We're supposed to be saving these people!
I'm not sure if it's my imagination but I get the feeling there are more and more enemies in each new day.
I asked around and was told Burakh was already back! He was supposedly working on some new medical experiments and had set up a new workshop here. It took me some time to find the right room, but eventually I found him in the former brewery.
Bachelor: Aglaja asked me to tell you that she is worried about you. She lost trace of you completely last night.
Burakh: I have nothing to tell her now. Just say that I have gone into the underground. I have met Elder Ojun. He did not tell me what I wanted to find out, at least not so far. I do not like his riddles and half-words.
Bachelor: Are you going back into the Abattoir again?
Burakh: Yes, certainly. My way back goes straight through that abyss.
Bachelor: Can you find something out for me? It's very important, but I obviously can't get inside myself...
Burakh: You are still working hard to defeat the epidemic? I was told that yesterday you tried to enter the Abattoir for that very reason.
Bachelor: Yes, that's right.
Burakh: Then speak, Oinon. In this business we are on the same side.
Bachelor: I am certain that this bacterium originated from under the ground. It's origin can be connected with the history of that place.
Burakh: If this is so, then it is very bad.
Bachelor: Why?
Burakh: This means it's dissolved in the ground? Everywhere under our feet?
Bachelor: Not necessarily. I think that under one of the main buildings of the town there might be a shaft or cavity... Some point where this filth is concentrated.
Burakh: I see. Yes, I will find out everything that I can. Your idea is certainly worth investigating.
Bachelor: I hope to hear from you again shortly, then.
I always get a shiver when stepping out of the Apiary. Even as the gates closes, you can hear the faint but horrible screams from the plague victims inside.
I need to get to the Cathedral now and report what I just heard. With my health in such a poor shape I can't afford risking to get into any big fights, so I decided to take a route that led me along the riversides.
There aren't that many people around here, but I still needed to make a small detour. I waited until I was sure things were quiet and then ran for the medical shop.
And of course my plans are thrown off by the complete lack of anything good in the shops I checked on the way. All they had in terms of healing items were tourniquets which are VERY expensive compared to what they do. I was hoping for another medikit or something.
In the end I think I burned over 10k on these buggers but with my health slowly draining (due to a full Exhaustion bar) and plenty of running left to do I didn't have much choice in the matter.
Oh, how naive we were to think that the death of their leader, the Hump, would get the robbers to back down. They are very willing to follow his example.
The sight of a burning madman running screaming toward you while flailing a knife toward your face is not something I'll ever forget...
Bachelor: I have found Burakh and told him your request.
Aglaja: How did he respond?
Bachelor: He said that he had nothing to speak with you about yet. Burakh is heading deeper into the Abattoir. Something in there is atracting him. Some echo connected with the death of his father.
Aglaja: Ah, it couldn't have happened at a worse time either. We will have to involve someone else to this purpose... Yes, I shall give this chance to the Devotress. It may still turn out successfully. Thank you for your aid, Dankovskiy. I take it you had some... expenses?
Bachelor: Not really, just some wasted ammunition.
Well, all this talk hasn't given me any new ideas of how to deal with the children in the Polyhedron, so I guess I will have to give them the rifles and get it over with.
The guards let me in after their usual grumbling.
Bachelor: I got your guns, Khan. But I will only give them to you under one condition.
Khan: And what is it?
Bachelor: There will be no shooting until the soldiers are storming your stairs. Promise?
Khan: Yes, I promise. It's a fair condition. Now show me my carbines.
Bachelor: Will you be able to hold back your, ehm, followers?
Khan: You can relax. I have a strict discipline here. Now you can enter, although I doubt that you will manage to get through even one facet of the tower. Afterward you will tell me what you saw.
Bachelor: Ok.
Summary: Burakh was in the Abattoir to find more information about the death of his father, Isidor, on day 1. He'll go back there soon, but it's not something we can take part in, sadly. Aglaja wants to get the Devotress involved instead, but how reliable is she?
Next update we'll step inside the actual living area in the Tower and do a check-up on the kids there.
